Grade 1Erika Holloway

My Story

Empowering young minds is my passion! I am thrilled to be joining the McLean learning community as a first grade teacher! I currently hold both a Masters of Arts in Teaching, and a Virginia teaching license. I have been in the field of education for 13 years, and a licensed educator for just under a decade. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. My background in working in the social behavioral health field and education, has allowed me to create positive learning environments that support my students’ academic and social-emotional growth. Each year my classroom is a supportive community of “Busy Bee” learners, whose membership is essential to the success of each and every learning day! It is my mission as an educator to develop relationships with students that foster the growth of competent and compassionate contributors to society, with the confidence to apply critical thinking skills to actively engage in, and solve commonly shared challenges.

My favorite subject is language arts, because it allows students to learn new things, and grants them a voice to express their own ideas. In my free time I enjoy hiking, tennis, and swimming. I also enjoy painting and going to museums. My favorite color is magenta and my favorite football team is the New York Giants!
