Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities

The McLean Parents Association invites you to get involved! We depend on the generosity of our parents to share their time, energy, enthusiasm, talent, and skills in order to continue our programs and events.

The weekly Parents Association email provides detailed information on upcoming events. Email your designated Grade Coordinator, Parents Association President, Raylene Grant, or Parent Liaison & Events Manager, Jennifer Jedrlinic with questions.

Celebrate our school in an evening of excitement and merriment. Volunteers are needed to help with solicitation, organization, decorations, auction items, set up and more. This is a great (adults only) community event and a fun committee in which to work. There are many opportunities to get involved.
Book Fair
In the Fall, during K-8 Conferences, the PA hosts a Scholastic Book Fair. You will help restock, assist students shop, tally totals, and man the register.
Cecily's Advocacy Conference
This event brings in national speakers, area professionals and McLean’s trained and dedicated faculty together on a variety of topics that are important to families and professionals. This is an adult event that is offered to both McLean families and the greater Washington area. The Conference Committee will identify speakers and assist with planning the event.
Learning Commons Library
Library volunteers assist the librarian with a variety of tasks, including shelving books, on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis.
Fall Family Walk & Day of Service
Help organize this purposeful, community-building event. Get involved by helping guide and rally walkers for multiple distances, outfit supplies for service activities, provide connections and help manage service booths for K-12 students and parents.

Come join the fun! Get in on the ground floor to plan this anticipated event, shape the activities, help evaluate carnival vendors, and rally parents to volunteer during the event.
Parents Council of Washington
Be a representative for McLean School parents to attend Parents Council of Washington (PCW) events. PCW is a consortium of approximately 50 independent schools in the Washington metro area, serving parents, school leaders, and students. PCW provides greater communication; information and liaison opportunities to help parents and independent schools educate children. A Representative for each division is needed.
K-12 Pizza Lunch
Pizza Lunch is a fun regularly occurring sponsored by the Parents Association for K-12 students. Come serve the pizza over the students’ lunch period! Sign up to be a volunteer every Pizza Lunch (time commitment is from 11:00 am-12:30 pm). Sign up to volunteer when you are able or just drop in.
Faculty & Staff Appreciation
A fun opportunity to let McLean faculty and staff know how much we appreciate everything they do. Teacher Appreciation provides treats, meals, and surprises monthly. Creating themes, coordinating food volunteers, and set-up/break-down are all part of the committee’s activities.
McLean Gear Swap
The Uniform Swap is available at most school events when parents are present, volunteers are needed to assist with setup, assisting parents with uniform selection, and packing up.
TRUE BLUE Annual Fund
Help strengthen McLean by becoming a Parent Ambassador for the TRUE BLUE Fund. Working with the Development Office, Parent Ambassadors help fundraise through outreach by letters, emails, calls, and word of mouth. This is a great opportunity for parents to get involved and support McLean.
