My Story

For as long as I can remember, I have been in school. My parents owned and operated a preschool our family lived above in Queens, NY. I learned how to drive on a mini school bus during the winter in the empty parking lot of the old Shea Stadium. After school, I would work in their school, helping in the classrooms. One of my earlier memories is being woken up at 6:00 am during snow days, being handed a stack of index cards, and calling families to tell them school was closed. My entire professional career has been focused around technology. In 1992, having some level of success in technology was relatively easy. If you knew how to turn on the computer in the office, you were the smartest person in the company. In 2009, after taking time off as a stay-at-home dad, I became Director of Technology at the Stephen Gaynor School in New York City. The childhood memories of how the machine of a school operates came flooding back to me and I knew I would never be truly happy if I were not working in a school. For the last 15 years, I have worked in four schools, most recently at the American School of Barcelona for the last five years. Before moving abroad, I spent four years in the DC area at The Field School as their Director of Technology.

Joining McLean School brings my family and me back to the DMV area, closer to friends and family, and back to supporting the important education of students with unique learning needs and strengths.
