My Story

I am very excited to teach Grade 8 American History at McLean. Growing up in the DMV, I always loved to go to museums where I could see old artifacts or look at old paintings. History always fascinated me and got me engaged. I remember sitting in my 7th grade history class and not wanting the class to end and thinking to myself, “This is awesome, how is everybody not loving this.” Since then I have wanted to share my love of history with as many people as possible.

Prior to McLean, I spent four years teaching 6th-8th grade American History and Civics at Commonwealth Academy, a small private school in Alexandria, Virginia that specializes in teaching students who have ADHA and other learning challenges. I attended Dickinson College and majored in History with a specialization in American History and a minor in Education. After a year of substitute teaching I attended the University of Virginia,  and received a master’s in Curriculum Development. GO HOOS! When I am not in the classroom, I am constantly following the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs and the Boston Red Sox. However, soccer, in particular DC United, is a true passion of mine. I also love to cook, hike, or go back to one of the many museums I went to as a kid.
