My Story

I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s in Middle School Math and Science Education. I have a passion for all types of science and a love for technology! I have been a part of the McLean family for almost my entire life, beginning school here in kindergarten and attending up until grade 4. In more recent years, I have been the Coordinator and Instructor of the SummerEdge STEM Program. I participated in the AIMS Tech Retreat, which focused on AI implementation in schools. This experience allowed me to explore specific tools for teachers and students to optimize time, enabling a greater focus on student learning and critical thinking. My teaching philosophy is that learning should be a delicate balance of content and fun, engaging activities. This approach aims to instill a love of learning in students rather than focusing solely on memorizing information.

One of my favorite lessons to teach is “Create-A-Creature,” a culmination of all the units discussed in grade 6. This lesson encourages creativity and imagination, requiring a deep understanding of the content. It also incorporates artistic skills and the use of AI tools.
