LatinDr. Dustin Cranford

My Story

I received my BAs in Classics and History as well as my MA in European History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a PhD in Ancient Mediterranean Studies from the University of Maryland at College Park. My dissertation, Seeds of Discord: Extraordinary Commands and Constitutional Thought in the Roman Republic, focused (as the title implies!) on the development of extraordinary military commands in the context of the Roman constitution. I absolutely love teaching all things related to the ancient world, have accumulated over ten years of experience in the classroom, and am excited to be teaching Latin (and more) at McLean School! Even when I’m not teaching, I’m probably still reading and writing about Greeks and Romans, but I also enjoy playing guitar, podcasting, and (most importantly) spending time with my lovely wife and our darling cat, Jewel.
