My Story

I was born in the great state of Wisconsin but moved to Virginia in middle school, so I like to say I’m “Wisconsin raised, Virginia perfected.” I’ve worked in education since 2013, when I began student teaching at Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville, Virginia. I’m a proud “double-hoo,” with a BA in History and an MAT from the University of Virginia, along with endorsements in Special Education and Social Studies Education.

I kicked off my teaching career as a middle school special education teacher with DC Public Schools during the 2013–2014 school year. After four years, I became the inaugural Learning Specialist at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC—a role I held for six years. While at Gonzaga, I began my PhD in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology at Michigan State University. I moved to Michigan in 2023 to focus on my studies full-time and I just completed my degree in May 2025.

I’m thrilled to be back in the DMV—I’ve missed my people, the weather, and (most importantly) the food. When I’m not working, I love cooking, going to museums, thrifting, and spending time with my friends, family, and soul-dog, Winston.
