My Story

There is something about the energy and rhythm of a school that has spoken to my spirit for as long as I can remember. I wanted to go to school before I was old enough to attend and cried daily seeing my older brother and his friends leave to go. Now, in my 36th year as an educator, I am reminded time and time again that I have always been at home in a school environment, and that this is a career that chose me long, long ago.

I joined the McLean School community in 2008 as Assistant Director of Admission and Director of Financial Assistance. Three years later, I had the honor of being appointed and serving as the Head of Lower School. Each day began greeting the kids at the door and reminding them that it was the start of a GREAT day to be a Mustang! As my role as caregiver to two aging parents increased, I transitioned to other roles in the community, including my current role as Director of Community Inclusion and External Relations. In all the roles I have held at McLean, my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications  from Howard University, has served me well. My current role calls for constant engagement with our community both proper and extended. I work closely with various members of our community developing and implementing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, serve as the administrative point person for parent engagement, and work to cultivate relationships between the school and various organizations and institutions with potential to introduce prospective families to our transformative educational experience.

When not working, I love spending time with family and friends, listening to music or reading . . . especially on a beach on Martha’s Vineyard.
