    McLean School is a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland. We seek applicants for the full-time position for a Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) to begin August 2019. McLean School has for sixty-five years been helping students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model™, we embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach to individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge, but never defining students by them.
     
    The Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) will have an appreciation for students with mild to moderate learning challenges, and seek to build self-confidence in our students as they learn to advocate and to prepare for success in college and life. This position requires a dynamic educator with vision and patience. Most important, he or she will subscribe to McLean School’s Core Values, our Mission, and our Philosophy, and will seek passionately to uphold and promote them.
     
    The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in Education and experience working with students with learning challenges, including dyslexia, anxiety, attention issues, and students who are gifted, skillfully assessing students’ strengths and areas of need to craft lessons to meet their academic needs. Creativity, flexibility, and strong communication skills are a necessity.

An earlier start date may be possible. McLean School has for sixty-five years been helping bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model™, we embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach to individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge, but never defining students by them.
     
    The Upper School Counselor will have an appreciation for students with mild to moderate learning challenges, and ADHD, and seek to build self-confidence in our students as they learn to advocate and to prepare for success in college and beyond. This position requires a dynamic counselor with vision and patience to establish rapport with Upper School students, families, and staff. Additional responsibilities include liaising with health care professionals, conferencing with parents, supporting teachers, helping to further social-emotional programming, and teaching.     An advanced degree in school counseling, social work, or psychology, and a deep commitment to student social-emotional growth, are required. Experience working with students with learning differences, ADHD, and/or anxiety is preferred.     McLean School is a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland. We seek applicants for the full-time position of Upper School Literature and English (grades 9-12) Teacher to begin August 2019. The right candidate will have the potential of assuming the role of Literature/English department chair. McLean School has for sixty-five years been helping bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model, we embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach to individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge, but never defining students by them.
     
    The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in literature and English mechanics, with at least two years of experience in teaching literature and writing to a broad range of learners, including those with mild to moderate learning challenges and ADHD. The focus of this position will be primarily as a writing instructor. We welcome candidates who are committed to student-centered pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and multi-sensory learning. Successful candidates must be willing to collaborate, innovate, and grow as teachers.
