Geography
I am so happy to be teaching Geography at McLean! A native to New England, I have over twenty years of experience teaching history, social studies, and global citizenship in schools both in the United States and abroad. In the United States, I have taught throughout the Maryland, Virginia, New York, and New England regions, specifically at the St. Anne’s School of Annapolis, The Chapin School, the IDEAL School of Manhattan, and small pod school run out of a restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard during the pandemic. Abroad, I was an educator in South Korea, Scotland, and the Pacific Island nation of Kiribati, where I was privileged to be a Peace Corps living on a tiny outer island of 1500 people and teaching English to 7th graders. I earned a Master of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Human Development and Psychology and a Master of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, focusing on Peace Education. I have worked as a facilitator of dialogue with Seeds of Peace, an organization that brings children from opposite sides of conflict together to attend a summer camp in Maine. Before my travels, I attended Colby College in Maine for my undergraduate degree, after which I lived on another small island, this time off the coast of Maine, working with adolescents with autism. I am thrilled to be a part of the McLean community and hope to inspire in my students a curiosity about their world.
