Art & Technology
I am thrilled to be the Middle School Art and Technology teacher. My sister is a graduate of McLean Middle School, and I have seen firsthand the life-changing benefits of the environment this school provides!
I have been teaching art, design, and creative problem-solving for more than 15 years. I earned my MFA in Fiber Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art and my BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Beginning in high school and continuing through college, I spent my summers teaching at camps, where I discovered my passion and strength for youth art education. I am drawn to the confidence, curiosity, and growth mindset that art can foster.
Before coming to McLean, I taught visual art at an IB World School and through programs including Corcoran ArtReach in Washington, D.C., and the Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland. I love working with students with a wide range of learning styles and strengths, helping them build confidence, take creative risks, and find ways for their ideas to shine.
I believe art and technology give students powerful ways to think, communicate, experiment, and problem-solve. My favorite teaching moments are when the lightbulb goes off—when a student works through a challenge, makes an unexpected discovery, or looks at something they created and feels genuinely proud.
Outside of school, I am usually making something, spending time with my three children and two dogs, or finding inspiration in nature, textiles, color, and the beautifully messy creative process.
