Idalia Yabe

Idalia is a McLean School parent whose daughter (Class of 2035) joined the school for third grade. Idalia grew up in Mexico and Washington State before moving to the DMV, where she met her husband, and together are raising their two children and puppy.

Idalia earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Washington State University and her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Georgetown University. She worked previously in intramural and is currently involved in the extramural program at NIH. Throughout her scientific career, she has been deeply committed to mentoring students and early-career scientists, supporting their growth, and fostering environments where they can thrive.

Idalia’s passion and interest in her children’s education and the school community is the reason she volunteers and serves as the Parent Association President.
