My Story

When I was a teenager, I wanted to grow up and become a professional student. I was hoping the college would pay me to take their courses! As it turns out, this job doesn’t actually exist, but I found the next best thing: teaching! I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Hood College and an advanced professional teacher certificate from Maryland State Department of Education. I was awarded the Excellence in Educational Leadership Award in 2015 and the Golden Apple/Teacher of the Year Award in 2017.

I am always looking for new educational experiences, so my learning journey is far from over. I have participated in professional development in the areas of the Science of Learning, stress responses, hyperdocs in the classroom, Building Thinking Classrooms, and Restorative Practices. I have been a presenter at the 2nd Annual Building Thinking Classrooms (2024) and a co-presenter at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Virtual Conference in 2023 with Robyn Wise. I also serve as the Grade 7 Dean and the Grade 7 Team Leader. I love math; it has always been one of my favorite subjects. I believe everyone is a math learner. I strive to help every student see themselves as math learners, further develop their math identity, work toward their full potential, and see the beauty in math. We work hard in math class, but we also have fun.

Teaching at McLean is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has been transformative.
