My Story

I pride myself on being a teacher who works to create an inclusive and intentional environment where all students know that they are respected individuals who are welcome as they are. I feel a strong sense of purpose in helping each of my students navigate their individual journey. Some of my efforts to build meaningful ways for students’ interests to connect with lessons and projects include: making comic book themed collector cards for students to synthesize the characters in reading books, and helping students craft their own instructional video math lessons with green screen and voice over. While I love teaching all subjects, it has been my personal crusade to empower students’ confidence that anyone can be “good” at math. I believe firmly that the partnerships between teachers, students, families, and the community are the cornerstones of the classroom.

As a DC native and a graduate of the University of Maryland, teaching has always been in my blood. My first job was volunteering at a summer camp that changed my life trajectory forever. After 10+ years of helping build the program up and upgrading their operations, I went on to tutor for 10 years while teaching test prep to high schoolers. I’ve taught for independent schools in the DC area for over a decade since.
In my free time, I enjoy all kinds of recreational sports, puzzle solving, biking, traveling, cooking, and of course . . . Lego building!
