Director of Athletics, Coaching & MentoringDa’Mon Perry

My Story

I believe that a successful Athletic Department should strive to develop the whole person: physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to create an atmosphere that will engage and inspire students and leaders on the playing field, in the classroom, and beyond.

I have two decades of experience as an athletic administrator, mentor, and coach at levels from youth to young adult. I earned my BA from Whittier College, majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sports Management, and my MEd from the University of Washington, where for two years I was a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Basketball Program. I served as Associate Director of Athletics at Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon, and, prior to that, at University Prep in Seattle, Washington.

I’m from Los Angeles, and an avid LA sports fan: Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Sparks, LAFC, you name it. In my free time I enjoy reading, working out, traveling, and spending time with my family. My wife and I have a mini Australian Shepherd named Creed (like the movie), and we enjoy teaching him new tricks and taking him to different parks and trails.

Education-based athletics has played a huge role in my life, and taught me essential skills that I continue to use and improve on now as an adult. I am grateful for the opportunity to “pay it forward” by providing a great athletics experience for all of our students here at McLean.
