SCHOOL LIFE
Student Life
As a community, McLean honors and respects all aspects of our students’ lives. Enrichment and growth also happens beyond the classroom as students elect to participate in clubs and activities.

Lower School students get involved in many clubs and activities outside the classroom. One of the most popular clubs is the Sports Club, where students get to challenge themselves physically. Many students enjoy the Cooking Club, Newspaper Club, Student Council, Crafts Club, and Reader’s Theater. There are also After School Activities available for those who need after care.

Middle School students participate in the Anime Club, Student Ambassadors, Diversity Club, Girls in the Middle, Girls of Science, Sports Talk, and Spirit Club.

Upper School activities and clubs include Student Government Association, Discipline Committee, Equity Board, Honor Committee, Service League, Activity Committee, Student Ambassadors, Advanced Band, Anime, Arts, Improv, Independent Art, Prom & Games play a significant role in student development as learning and fun come together to enrich the lessons learned from McLean’s classrooms.

K-12 College Preparatory School Supporting Bright Students’ Individual Strengths and Challenges.

McLean School is an independent, co-educational, K-12 day school serving Maryland, Washington, and Virginia. McLean has for over sixty years been helping students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. We embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges – dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and challenges related to anxiety and executive functioning. Many of our students excel in some areas while benefiting from support in others.
