Taryn Tenney

Grade 5
TTenney@mcleanschool.org

I graduated with my BA in Anthropology from Arizona State University and am currently working toward my MEd (also from ASU). Before having a family, I enjoyed traveling around the world.  My most memorable and impactful trips were to Jordan and Tanzania. Once our daughter is older, I plan to take her along on more traveling adventures.

I have taught in a variety of settings from inner city public school to private institutions; from grades 4-12. I LOVE teaching the intermediate grades; grades 5 and 6, specifically. Kids at this age seem to possess just the right mix of a love for school and learning, and a burgeoning sense of independence that I truly enjoy fostering. When I came to interview at McLean in May of 2013, I knew I was where I was meant to be. I love working with our kids and the faculty and staff is truly second to none. I live in Rockville with my husband, Derek, and our two dogs Nellie and Cooper. But the absolute light of my life is our four year old daughter Vivienne. She’s kind of awesome!
