Barbara Korin

MS Literature

I received my Bachelor of Science in Child Development from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my teaching certification from Tel Aviv College in Israel. At the urging of my college roommate who taught in the Middle School, I came to McLean School in 1991 as a substitute and became part of the permanent faculty the following year. I taught sixth grade for several years and graduated to 7th and 8th grades in 2001. I find great satisfaction teaching Literature and appreciate the opportunity to touch young lives with the joy of relaxing with a good book and escaping into another world. Now, I feel the challenge as we compete with technology and the quickened pace of life for a child’s attention. The ex-roommate left the school when she moved from the area, but I have stayed . . . . . and grayed.

K-12 College Preparatory School Supporting Bright Students’ Individual Strengths and Challenges.

McLean School is an independent, co-educational, K-12 day school serving Maryland, Washington, and Virginia. McLean has for over sixty years been helping students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. We embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges – dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and challenges related to anxiety and executive functioning. Many of our students excel in some areas while benefiting from support in others.
