I’m the Middle School Art Teacher at McLean. I grew up in Germany and immigrated to the United States 11 years ago. I was always fascinated by art and, when I was in high school, decided that I wanted to become a teacher to be able to introduce children to the world of art. I studied at the Teachers College in Freiburg, Germany, where I successfully completed the First and Second State Exams for Teachers in Studio Art, Math, and Physical Education. After my certification I taught these subjects in Germany for several years. After I moved to the United States, I started teaching Visual Art at McLean in 2006. While working here, I completed a Master’s Degree in Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2008. I also hold a professional certification for the State of Maryland for Pre-K-12 Art. In my spare time I work on my own art projects and participate in studio art programs at various local institutions. Next to teaching and art, I like sports, going to museums, reading books, going out with friends, and watching movies.
