Tuesday, Dec. 6: Read and annotate section 10 of “Song of Myself.” Answer the 8 questions I gave you on the handout.
Wednesday, Dec. 7: Read and annotate section 24 of “Song of Myself.” Answer the 8 questions I gave you.
Thursday, Dec. 8: Read and annotate section 48 of “Song of Myself.” Answer the 8 questions I gave you.
Friday, Dec. 9: To prepare for your exam, read and annotate sections 51 and 52 of “Song of Myself.” Answer the 8 questions we’ve been working on. Focus on finding the main idea of the poem and describing the speaker’s tone.
Friday, Jan. 6: Read chapter 2 of The Catcher in the Rye

Tuesday, Jan 24: Read and annotate ch. 13 of Catcher
Friday, Jan 27: Read and annotate ch. 15 & 16. Write 2 discussion questions for each chapter, and ID two significant quotes from each chapter, as well. In addition, briefly explain one emerging theme in the novel. Your theme should be in the form of a question.
Wed, Feb 1: Read and annotate ch 18 & 19
Thursday, Feb 2: Read and annotate ch 20 of Catcher. Quiz on chapters 11-20 tomorrow. Focus on characters and symbols in those chapters.
Friday, Feb 10: Finish the book. Quiz on chapters 21-26 on Monday.
Wed, Feb. 15: Work on your Catcher essay.

Friday, April 20: Prepare for quiz on Monday. Review characters, plot, and setting from Act I, as well as the political/social context of South Side Chicago in the 1950s. Make sure you know the following terms: Great Migration, Racial Restrictive Covenants, Black Belt.
