For Monday, May 14th: Study roots for recap test lessons 13, 14, 15; be sure to have all 3 rough draft body paragraphs completed (setup, example, explain); one should be a direct quote using quotation marks, one should be an indented quote, and one should be a paraphrase (we did these in class but some of you didn’t finish). If any part is missing, you will not earn any points for the assignment. Begin studying for final exam.
For Friday, May 11th: Study roots, lesson 15 for test; finish the indented quote paragraph we started in class on Thursday.
For Thursday, May 10th:Study your roots; work on the one paragraph we started in class today. You should have the setup, example with documentation, and the explanation of the source/quote part of the paragraph finished.
For Wednesday, May 9th: Study your roots; work on the one paragraph we started in class today. You should have the setup and the example part of the paragraph.
For Tuesday, May 8th: Have a source for each one of your body paragraphs: one should be a long quote of about 4-6 lines; one could be a story you’d like to put in your own words (a paraphrase) and one should be about a 1-2 sentence quote. Be sure you save the web addresses. Study roots.
For Monday, May 7th: Research at least one to two topics for your possible research essay. Keep track of possible sites you could use; I need to see them on Monday (save to a Word document).
For Friday, May 4th: Study roots for Friday’s test; decide on an essay topic to research (may have two topics—may need a backup if your first topic doesn’t work)
For Thursday, May 3rd: Study roots for Friday’s test.
For Wednesday, May 2nd: We’ll finish the rewrite of a body paragraph in class on Thursday (unless I gave you different directions); we’ll be sure you have changed it by adding more details and making the sentences sharper, crisper—more direct. Just fixing what I wrote on your paragraph will earn you nothing.
For Tuesday, May 1st: Finish the worksheet with the problems from the essays. Do not do the last one; we’ll do that one together. Study your new roots.

For Friday, April 27th: (WE DO NOT MEET ON THURSDAY) Root test, lesson 13; final copy of your essay will be due before the bell rings to end class. Everyone must at least proofread one more time before printing.
For Wednesday, April 25th: Study roots—test Friday; You may work on your rough draft paragraphs; make sure you do your own work—no help. The entire essay is due on Wednesday (rough is OK). I’ve changed the due date for the final copy to Friday before class is over. Again, you may work on it at home, but please, do your own work—that’s how YOU learn.
For Tuesday, April 24th: Study roots—test Friday; You may work on your rough draft paragraphs; make sure you do your own work—no help. We have our double period day on Tuesday and we’ll work on the essay extensively—the essay will be due on Wednesday. You will print it at the beginning of class, but you will have about 15 minutes to look it over before printing.
For Monday, April 23rd: You may work on your rough draft body paragraphs but not the intro or conclusion; make sure you do your own work—no help. Figure it out; these are just rough drafts.
For Thursday, April 19th: Write out a RD working thesis for your 5-paragraph essay topic. You may use mine as a model, but you cannot copy every word.
For Wednesday, April 18th: From our brainstorm work, select three possible topics that you can use for each of three body paragraphs. Study your Latin phrases and review Roman Numerals for a test on Wednesday.
For Tuesday, April 17th: Brainstorm and write down 3-5 topic ideas for our essay about what you’d like to tell incoming freshman to McLean about what it’s like to be a 9th grader here. Study your Latin phrases and review Roman Numerals for a test on Wednesday.

For Monday, March 19th: Without your partner’s input, freewrite a process paragraph based on your notes and outline—it should be rough—don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, mechanics, etc. It’s a freewrite.
For Friday, March 16th: Roots test lesson 12; continue working on your list of ideas for your two process paper topics (try to add more to the one that you didn’t have much of in class today).
