On-line Research Resources

This is a collection of resources to help you research any topic. Remember to make your research topic as specific as possible. If you want to research Pluto—the planet, type in Pluto planet. This will help to eliminate references to the Greek God, Pluto and the Disney character, Pluto. If you want to find out specific information, say its daytime and nighttime temperatures, you can type in Pluto planet temperatures and the search engine will find references that mention the temperatures on the planet.

If you are writing a paper, use the key words in your thesis statement to help narrow your search. The more specific the search query, the better your reference list. Most search engines have an advanced search that can help you further narrow your search. If you are searching for specific phrase or name, put it in quotes.
