ASL Students to Visit Maryland School for the Deaf

The American Sign Language classes welcomed Francis Cooney, a guest speaker from the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD). Mr. Cooney spoke to each class and shared information about his life as a deaf person while he answered questions ranging from his opinion about the cochlear implant to what was it like to be the only deaf child in a hearing family. The students particularly enjoyed his funny stories. The visit was so successful that McLean students will visit the Maryland School for the Deaf in the fall to hopefully set up a Skype-like form of communication with their students.
