SPELL-Links
Jan Wasowicz, President and CEO of Learning by Design, Inc., spent a day in Middle School and a day in Lower School this week working with teachers in grades 1-6 on techniques for using the SPELL-Links to Reading & Writing curriculum in the classrooms. SPELL-Links is a word study curriculum designed to improve reading and spelling by addressing the core areas of phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, word parts and related words, and mental images of words. Dr. Wasowicz taught in some classes with teachers observing. She also observed some teachers using the program. Grade level teams had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Wasowicz afterwards to talk about specific applications and strategies for implementing the program as is, or in conjunction with other vocabulary curricula.
