Archaeological Dig at McLean!

The Upper School Latin I students followed in the footsteps of Indiana Jones as they excavated the remains of an archaeological site at McLean. The site was a “remnant” from the famous ancient Roman city of Pompeii. Students uncovered ancient coins, bones, pottery shards, and even a curse tablet! After they practiced some archaeology basics (plotting points, looking at stratigraphy, and taking pictures of artifacts), they analyzed their findings and discussed what type of site they had uncovered. Based on the remains they found, they decided that they had uncovered part of a Roman house; specifically, a kitchen!
