Weekly Writer

We will be starting our Weekly Writer the week of September 6th. We understand that, due to the day off this week for Labor Day, there are only 3 nights to work on it. Due to this change, we have taken time to brainstorm the topics as a group to give the kids a bit of a head start. If you have any quetions about the assignment please don’t hesitate to email us. This should be a fairly independent assignment, so if it becomes difficult for your child, have them bring the Weekly Writer into school and we will take time to explain any questions they might have.

Weekly Writer is a journal based assignment that each child in our homeroom will be expected to complete by the end of each week. At the beginning of each month journal topic options will be glued into each child’s Weekly Writer. Each week students will be required to choose one of the options to write about. They will have until Friday to complete it. This gives ample time to spend on brainstorming and thoughtful writing. It also allows for there to be some flexibility in when it is completed at home in case there is a night of two when there may not be a lot of time available for homework completion. Our hopes are to help build independent writing skills throughout the year and foster creative thinking!
