The Cost of Doing Business

Prealgebra

Monica Lewis’ Prealgebra class completed their group project titled, The Cost of Doing Business. Over the past few weeks, they studied how graphing a system of equations for income and expenses illustrates the profitability of a business and its break-even point, and were charged with applying these concepts to forecast the viability of an apparel enterprise. They developed a business plan incorporating appropriate graphs and equations, researched their competition, used demographic data to support their marketing plan, and analyzed pricing data to determine the profitability of the company. In professional attire, they presented their business plan to Mr. Lewis (Business Transformation Group, Principal) and were granted a fictitious loan, based on their data and presentation skills. The students demonstrated leadership and poise, and reaped the benefits of their hard work.
