McLean School of Maryland

Mathematics

Grade 6 students are divided into groups according to math skill level and learning style. Placements are fluid and may be changed at any point in the year, as needed.  All groups follow the Prentice Hall Mathematics series with supplements from the McLean teachers’ best math practices and other materials.  Students engage in an in-depth application of mathematical operations to whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percents, ratios and proportions.  Students participate in a hands-on Math Lab once a week, where they explore measurement, geometry, data analysis, and are introduced to Pre-Algebra.
